History
We call ourselves Cantate (pronounced CAN-TAH-TAY).
Formed in 1996 by eight singers looking for a wider, more flexible repertoire, we now have grown to eighteen in number. We are based in Thanet and have great fun in performing as those who have seen us live will testify!
Our concerts can vary in musical style depending upon our and your interest (yes, you can book us!). We enjoy performing sixteen century polyphony (Allegri, Palestrina) as much as pop music (i.e. Enya, Chris de Burgh, Elton John). Look at the repertoire pages for full listings.
Most of our concerts feature a capella singing but we also team up with other groups of musicians in Thanet and beyond.
Over the years we have appeared in cathedrals, pubs, theatres, churches, mansions, school halls, marquees and open garden air.
